    Pauline Frommer – Editorial Director of Frommer Travel Guides and award-winning travel journalist – discusses secrets that the travel industry doesn’t want you to know about how to avoid overpaying for lodgings, activities and airfares. She’ll also discuss how to tailor the right itinerary for your interests and budget, how new developments in travel will affect your next vacation, and some destinations you should be considering.     1,000 Places to See Before You Die: 15th Anniversary

    Patricia Schultz, author of the best-selling travel bible 1,000 Places To See Before You Die, takes you around the world by sharing a few of her favorite destinations, continent by continent. Dipping into the book’s rich and varied collection of attractions, the author shares history, interesting facts, and beautiful photography that help illustrate some of the globe’s countless treasures – from the fjords of Norway to Patagonia’s dazzling glaciers to the Sing Sing Festival in Papua New Guinea. Book signings follow at on-site Bookstore.

    Tom Beer, Newsday Travel Editor

    An inveterate traveler, Tom Beer edits Newsday’s travel section in print and online. He was born in New York State and grew up outside Boston. Among his favorite places to visit are Seattle, Maine, England, Spain, Italy, India and Sri Lanka. Tom attended Carleton College, and has worked as an editor at Bantam Books and Out magazine. His writing has appeared in The Village Voice, Time Out New York, The Los Angeles Times and other publications.
